2006/10/08 OK the nuragic sk8 safari is over, we'll tell you all about it in a few days and you'll be reading about it in your glossy magazines and also the specialized ones such as 6am. in the mean time there's some pictures to the right, but before all that here is what you wanna know about fear and loathing in Porto Pollo, a day out on the beach under the autumn sun and friendly waves rolling in, everyone chill!  Peasants from all over the place turned up for the race, not realizing there was none, only a biathlon of DIY fun. There were quite a few troubles  and delays, apparently caused by a collective mobile phone malfunction, but thanks to a little improvisation and some flexibility everything went down well in the end. The skaters (aka scheitisti) that participated  deserve  a real huge "grazie" for making the afternoon a happening. BTW here are the results of the ANALOG ape-sk8 combined 2006:     1. Luke Van - Melbourne - CRéME       Oliver Sör Villo - Itinerant - GUITARS GALORE   after dark the music got louder as the bands started to play, opening the dances there was an instrumental trio from the other side of the costa verde mountains "Les Habitudes De Ma  Jeunesse" they played a really tight set of diverse and idiosyncratic instrumental rock interlaced with some screams by the truly skilled girl they have on guitar.  Then came The Rippers making the Rock behind them shake and throw their rhythm and blues out into the Mediterranean. Needless to say mayhem started with the first tone piercing out of Ripper III's vox. the few copies of their brand new LP "tales full Of Black Sooth" that didn't find a customer on the release party the day before got sold just as quick right away, they will bring some more along for their european tour, so you can rock out to it too, just the way you should be. here is the flyer of the release party and here are the dates of their tour.  The third act of the night was the group that goes by the aptly name of "Old Brown Shoes" creating a mood of early Rolling Stones with scents and perfumes of don't give a rats ass.  Finally it was Black Time again, and again what a show and what a crazy crowd. Weirdoes rolling between Lemmy Caution and Stix, some even licking his bass drum, psychos in exploited leather jackets tripping to the full moon and obviously Mauro from Sarroch who just like last year with the Black Lips rocked with the band as if it was Kyuss ten years ago. For the last song Ripper III joined on guitar and then the Poon Attraction improvised three songs. The Last fuoriprogramma was two songs with Ripper IV on drums then it was time for the Disc Jockey Della Madonna.  Next year this all will be only one day out of a whole week of events in this vain, blending action and style and different music into a delicious brew to get you all shrivelled up, it'll be the F.B..  Stay tuned for detailed info on this to... get nestled! amidst the prickly pears                                                                   ... tu gia sai

Il Rock 'n' Roll è in un terribile stato di degrado, complessi con masturbatori di chitarre satanisti i quali nomi sono il segreto più oscuro a causa del pazzo disegno dei loro logo, il movimento hippie con le sue droge ed i suoi facili costumi, i ragazzini emo con la loro ridicola moda androgina, per non parlare dei piccoli e puzzolenti punks che neanche sanno come scrivere la parola "b-i-b-b-i-a". Caspita! ORA DI CAMBIARE! Canzoni come "Secret Sign", "Sympathy For Jesus", "Father Bingo", "My Way Is The Highway" e "Ain't No Monkeys In My Family Tree" convertiranno in un credente persino il più incallito antipapaboy.

Il souno delle loro prediche è quello dei Mummies e Dead Kennedys misto a sprazzi di Phantom Surfers con l'aggiunta di una dose Jimi Hendrix, particolarmente presente sul nuovo disco "A Challange To The Cowards Of Christendom" appena pubblicato dalla Alternative Tentacles, etichetta di Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys) per l' occasione rinominata Alternative Testaments.
Rimane tuttavia da vedere se riuscirà a scalare le classifiche cristian rock americane, anche perchè dal vivo la musica cambia decisamente, aumentando in distorsione e velocità, anche grazie ai numerosi drinks offerti dai credenti ai cavalieri in argomento, non solo nella natia San Francisco ma ovunque vi siano uomini e donne di buona volontà. 

La nuova crociata alla quale dedicano anima e corpo questi cavalieri californiani, non si oppone a maometto ma all' avarizia e alla diluzione delle parole di Cristo, principali opponenti sono i bigotti predicatori tv con il loro seguito e la categoria dei "reborn christians" come ad esempio George W.

La guerra battuta dai Knights Of The New Crusade è quindi una guerra contro satana. 

Più che un concerto questa sarà una delirante testimonianza di antisatanismo diretta dalla spada e dallo spirito.
Spogliatevi dunque per una volta delle vostre conoscenze aquisite in anni di critiche accanite di concerti rock o surrogati e date fiato ai vostri istinti primordiali, senz altro dio chuiderà un occhio, per questa volta.

Approdano in Sardegna per la seconda volta i BLACK LIPS, il gruppo o meglio, il complesso più sixties garage punk ehhhm… dalla fine degli anni sessanta. Quattro pezzi di “white trash” iperattivi e laureati alla Freak Out University di Atlanta, Georgia, dei quali almeno uno è anche incontinente…

Qualche informazione per chi non avesse ancora sentito parlare dei BLACK LIPS: invece di scopiazzare, come la maggior parte delle band garage del momentaneo revival, da dei visi pallidi americani degli anni 60 che a loro volta scopiazzarono massicciamente da dei giovincelli, visi pallidi inglesi, che avevano scopiazzato in buona fede da dei uomini neri americani, i Black Lips scopiazzano spudoratamente il Rhytm and Blues nero alle sue origini, catalizzandolo con il loro bagaglio di talenti innati che consiste in spirito e fegato, strafottenza suburbana, ignoranza infantile e resistenza ad ogni tipo di veleno creato da madre natura o artificialmente che sia, basta che faccia effetto… 

Se proprio si vuole prendere ad esempio una band che ha intrapreso la loro stessa via anni addietro, si devono prendere i primi Rolling Stones, che al cospetto dei BLACK LIPS però farebbero la figura degli Uddue messi difronte agli Stooges. 

Dal vivo lo sciò al fulmicotone dei BLACK LIPS ti lascia immediatamente in uno stato di “shaddappa you face” e neanche Brian Wilson con il suo udito mono riuscirebbe a ricreare le armonie vocali che questi pazzi riversano generosamente al pubblico che balla come morso da delle tarantole in un aerosol di suoni acidi, pezzi di arcobaleni e marciume vario. 

I loro primi due LP, usciti su Bomp per la chiarovegenza di Greg Shaw, grazie ad una produzione che fa sembrare Billy Childish una specie di Phil Spector hanno raggiunto lo stato di perle solo a livello sotterraneo, ciò nonostante chi riesce a filtrare melodie e ganci dal marasma di interferenze gia può gustarsi il genio itrecciatovi. 
Tutto cambia con il nuovo album “Let It Bloom” uscito su In The Red, certo la produzione ancora farebbe rabbrividire ogniuno che non ha vissuto, o ancora vive gli anni del vinile, ma su questo disco ci sono solo hits, una gemma del rock segue l’altra, Bo Diddley, Sonics e 13th Floor Elevators vengono a mente.
Senz’ ombra di dubbio “Let it Bloom” è il miglior album del 2005 e sicuramente andrà a finire tra i migliori di sempre.

Tutto questo per chi non li ha ancora potuto vedere, chi invece li ha visti esibirsi assieme ai Rippers settembre scoroso a “Marina di Arbus-Gutturru E Flumini” gia sa, e potrà senz’ altro raccontare qualche storiella ai nipotini, essendo stato testimone di una nottata rock della serie più selvaggia e primitiva che la mente umana possa concepire, almeno quella di un depravato moccioso yankee trapiantato nel sud. 

Quest’ anno invece di un concerto ne proponiamo tre, e per venire incontro alla gioventù mal motorizzata ci siamo decisi ad avvicinarci alla civiltà urbana. 

Il primo concerto si terrà martedi 20 giugno a Sassari al circolo culturale AGGABACHELA in via Diaz, il concerto è aggratiis, grazie anche alla REESONskateboards che è stata di gran aiuto in tutto. 

Poi dinuovo un free show al chiosco Corto Maltese alla spiaggia Poetto di Cagliari, Giovedi 22 di Giugno, assieme ai Black Lips suoneranno i Cool Ones, con Ripper IV alla batteria e uno scalmanato addetto a chitarra, voce e sballamendto. 

Sabato 24 giugno, poi la festa prosegue amplificata allo Sleepwalkers di Guspini, il nuovo Locale di Ripper II immerso in un uliveto 3 km prima di Guspini venendo da San Gavino Monreale, località Laus de Flumini, entrata difronte al campo di tiro a volo. Ad accompagnare i BLACK LIPS questa volta ci saranno The Hangee V, e per completare il cerchio “back from the grave” ci sarà un Disc Jockey della madonna aka Caveman che vi farà ballare per tutta la notte. I Black Lips si sono portati dietro pure il regista del loro ultimo video per girare del nuovo materiale, attenzione quindi a come vi comportate, potreste finire nel tour movie… 


Infine grazie ancora a tutti quelli che sono venuti a Porto Pollo al concerto di BRANT BJORK sabato 3 giugno. Ci dispiace aver dovuto spegnere tutto alle due, ma i Carabinieri non hanno fatto un grinza, questa volta ad ogni modo non ci saranno problemi di orari e per chi vuole ballare o per chi solo vuole sballarsi non mancheranno ne tempo ne occasioni.

at the end of june the BLACK LIPS will be on Sardinia again, they'll play our beach on Saturday 24th of June and perhaps also some dive at some forgotten harbour during their stay, be prepared for the unexpected...

                               BRANT BJORK PER LA PRIMA VOLTA IN SARDEGNA

Sabato 3 Giugno a Porto Pollo sul campo sportivo, spiaggia al porto, si verificherà uno degli avvenimenti musicali più straordinari dell'anno. 
BRANT BJORK AND THE BROS dal vivo con esibizione skateboard del team REESON prima del concerto, e Disc Jockey (garage rock) Slovenly Pete dopo.

Brant Bjork è l'inconfutabile padrino della scena rock del deserto californiano, nata alla fine degli anni ottanta, in collaborazione con Mario Lalli e Josh Homme. Allo stesso gruppo deve essere attribuita la responsabilità di aver fondato Kyuss, Desert Sessions e Queens Of The Stone Age, tra l'altro Brant Bjork oltre ad aver suonato la batteria nei Kyuss e la chitarra con i Fatso Jetson (la band di Mario Lalli) ha anche scritto assieme a Josh Homme la maggior parte dei pezzi dei Kyuss. 

Alternandosi continuamente tra chitarra e batteria, dimostra sia dal vivo che in studio uno stile totalmente suo, con sonorità estremamente variegate e particolari, volendo proporre un paragone viene a mente Dave Grohl, che da batterista dei Nirvana ha continuato alla chitarra con i suoi Foo Fighters, calcando un percorso simile. Brant Bjork a differenza di molti altri artisti ha deciso di intraprendere una strada sicuramente non delle più facili, per divulgare il suo messaggio rock. 

Il suo tragitto da solista parte molto modestamente da una pietra miliare della musica rock: Jalamanta. 
Un album in cui Brant Bjork non solo ha scritto la totalità dei pezzi e suonato tutti gli strumenti ma ha anche dimostrato per l'ennesima volta il suo talento non solo come musicista ma anche come produttore e come se non bastasse ha anche fondato un etichetta per pubblicare questo disco.
Dall'uscita di Jalamanta nel 1999 ad oggi Brant Bjork si è dedicato principalmente a questa sua creatura chiamata Duna Records, pubblicando regolarmente altri album da solista ciascuno diverso in atmosfere e sonorità spaziando dal rock ritmato e psichedelico dei Kyuss a quello di Cream o Black Sabbath, dal Jazz al singer-songwriter, da riff garage anni 60 a pezzi che si rifanno al punk dei Devo, da strutture ipnotiche alla Captain Beefheart a sprazzi di feedback e genio reminescenti del buon Jimi Hendrix. 

Di origini messicane-irlandesi, il suo nome gli è dato da suo patrigno che è svedese, e per il quale nutre una forte stima. Brant Bjork è persona di animo semplice, cresciuto nei dintorni di Palm Springs centro di ricchi pensionati di Los Angeles e circondato da una moltitudine di cittadine dedite ad ospitare la necessaria servitù, il tutto incastonato nell'isolamento più totale del deserto Mojave della California del Sud. Con questo sfondo di continua transizione tra ambienti borghesi e di immigranti messicani, Brant Bjork nella sua fase di giovane fan dello skateboard e del punk dei Ramones inizia a suonare la chitarra prima e conseguentemente la batteria. Ancora adolescente insieme a Josh Homme fonda il nucleo dei Kyuss ai quali in seguito si aggiungono Nick Oliveri (Mondo Generator, Dwarves) e Chriss Cockrell alias Vic Du Monte e John Garcia (Slo Burn, Unida, Hermano) che in conseguenza alla cronica mancanza di luoghi ove suonare si fanno le ossa alle jammate nel deserto, spontaneamente organizzate da Mario Lalli. Inizia cosi a formarsi nel deserto, parallelamente al grunge di Seattle ancora in fasce, una moltitudine di band ciascuna diversa dall'altra. Le differenze con la scena di Seattle sono varie, anche nell'impatto commerciale, con i Kyuss unico portavoce al di fuori dell'ambito locale. Al momento dell'implosione del fenomeno Seattle i fari dei media iniziano a dirigersi verso Palm Desert, ma Josh Homme e Brant Bjork staccano la spina e i Kyuss lasciano il circo, di conseguenza solo con i suoi pagliacci tristi. 

Josh Homme si trasferisce a Seattle, il luogo dove a suo sentire in quegli anni era più facile rimanere distanti da qualsiasi hype, essendo la sua intenzione di terminare gli studi. Poi entra in una fase Stooges e finisce per aggregarsi agli Screaming Trees con l'unico sopravvissuto della tresca smack Cobain-Staley-Lanegan, appunto Mark Lanegan anni dopo sarà presente nei QOTSA. 
Brant Bjork invece lavora in cantiere, e dopo essere tornato da un soggiorno nelle verdi terre di Humboldt County, a nord di San Francisco, inizia a produrre dischi con Fu Manchu e Fatso Jetson per i quali suona anche la chitarra. 
Poi le strade di Homme e Bjork si incrociano nuovamente e nascono le Desert Sessions e i Queens Of The Stone Age ancora sotto il nome Gamma Ray che Homme in seguito porterà al successo globale. 
Brant Bjork nel suo spirito decide però di girare il mondo come batterista per i Fu Manchu con i quali registra altri due album. 
In questo periodo cade la sua decisione di indirizzarsi per la via che lo ha portato a registrare album al contempo rilassati come pochi con in più intrinseca quella potenza che ti tiene sulle spine per tutta la durata del disco. 

Dal vivo poi il suo show non ha eguali contemporanei, paragonabile solo a mitici axe-men scomparsi da tempo. Brant Bjork trasforma la sua Stratocaster in una bacchetta magica con la quale dirige le teste dei presenti per poi sbattere la chitarra a destra e sinistra accompagnato da urla di feedback fumanti. 

Nel concerto di Sabato 3 Giugno a Porto Pollo potrete condividere assieme alla sua band "The Bros" alcune esperienze vissute da Brant Bjork durante le leggendarie Generator Parties nei canyon e nelle rovine in mezzo al deserto, con tre bands un mucchio selvaggio d'assetati di rock ed un gruppo elettrogeno acceso per tutta la notte. 
La miniera abbandonata dietro al palco, le rocce ed il porto affianco fanno da scena al disco d'oro che affogherà nel blu del mare quando "Brant Bjork And The Bros" faranno la loro prima apparizione della serata, tra l'altro la prima su di un'isola del mediterraneo, e non è da escludersi che s'intrufoli qualche pezzo dei Kyuss "magic versus technology". Inoltre tra i vari set potranno anche cadere pezzi acustici con il tipico groove trascinante dei suoi ultimi due album "Local Angel" e "Saved By Magic" oppure delle cover tipo "2000 man" dei Rolling Stones. 
Brant Bjork farà riprendere il concerto per un DVD di prossima uscita e durante i giorni nei quali sarà in Sardegna, girerà anche delle scene negli ambienti naturalistici e culturali dell'isola.

Prima, dopo e tra i vari set della serata un disc jockey di rara classe "Pete Slovenly Spaghetti-O" proveniente da Reno, Nevada baderà a farvi muovere per bene con i suoi vinili Rhythm n' Blues Surf Beat Punk, come chiaramente non mancheranno dischi cari agli aficionados dei Kyuss. Informatevi a riguardo sul sito dell'etichetta di Pete www.slovenly.com casa anche dei Rippers, una delle migliori band sarde. 

Prima del concerto organizzato da TOHKAMAK.guitarsgalore.net che appunto inizierà al tramonto, (20:30 ca.) invece ci sarà una session skateboard con rampe e slide e gente che sa girare del team REESONproject.com
