Casella di testo: Dear friends, When the Chinese Embassy in Rome has informed me of important prize conferred from the Office for the Foreign Experts, it has seemed me a little bit exaggerated, because I always have only tried to do my duty. Of course I was and I am glad, and I thank the Chinese Government for his attribution. It is always a gratification to know that the others (and in this case how many others) think, that in what you have done there is anything so important to deserve a prize. I want to take this occasion for thank all the researchers, the governmental officials and the officials of the Chinese, Italian and international organisms for their irreplaceable contribution, they have given to the carrying out of my job. They proposed initiatives, kindly welcomed my counsels, realized important moments of international cooperation, with big competence, spirit of collaboration and friendship.  I think it was their contribution to make my role of connection between the scientific communities worthy of the prize, that therefore, I feel to share it with all them.  Live in Beijing and have the opportunity of see the wide and progressive changes that the country has had in the last 10 years, brought me to the conviction of the general value of a society that, I am sure, will carry to the affirmation of a more and more welfare for all. I am sure also, that the Chinese government and the Chinese people will reach all their objectives (you can see the good day from the morning). I Wish them to continue to have so much successes on the way of development and I hope to have in the future other occasions of work together. An Italian proverb tells "who finds a friend, finds a treasure" I feel today particularly rich for have had the confirmation of so many friends in China. Thank you again Friendship Award Ceremony
