In 2009 ROMANO-ARCHIVES has provided a part of the Dada and Futurist films that were screened during the exhibition PRIMA DURANTE DOPO IL CINEMA FUTURISTA (BEFORE DURING AFTER THE FUTURIST CINEMA), performed from 15 to 23 October 2009 at La Galleria L'Agostiniana in Rome, Italy in the event "Risonanze del Festival Internazionale del Film di Roma" ("Resonances of the Rome International Film Festival"). In 2011 ROMANO-ARCHIVES signed the first contracts as footage provider with the Historic Channel of the Italian State Television RAI TV - RAI 3 La Grande Storia and with the German State Television ZDF. Also in 2011 an Austrian documentary on Hanna Reitsch, containing our exclusive material, was distributed worldwide obtaining a great public and critic success! In 2012 we started a new collaboration with the BBC. In January 2013 the BBC aired worldwide, at prime time, a documentary on Malta in WW2 realized with a large contribution of our material. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M30KC-mep7k)

Another in the stunning "Nicky Nome" series of Technicolor Chevrolet cartoons (see A Coach For Cinderella). In this one, a doltish king promises the hand of his lovely daughter to the wealthiest man in the land. Nobody is richer than sleazy "Ali Kazam," but a more deserving "pauper boy" gets the girl when Nicky whisks him away to the Valley of Jewels on a magic carpet that turns into a you-know-what. Beautifully animated and scored; incredibly rich colors.

Screen ad, in Technicolor, for the 1940 Chevrolet models.
In this 1939 short, a suburban California family gets all dressed up to drive their new 1940 Chevrolet to see grandma and grandpa, who still live on the family farm. Dad’s in a suit and tie, and Mom has on a dressy dress and chic hat. Are they dressed up to go see the grandparents or are they dressed up to ride in their new Chevrolet? They pack their expensive looking luggage in the trunk—“Watch out! That’s grandma’s present!” This family has money to spend. When we think of the 1930’s and families on the road, we’re more likely to think of the Joads’ old Model T in “The Grapes of Wrath” than of this affluent nuclear family. Is this image pure fantasy, or was America truly coming out of the Depression in 1939? The announcer mentions the car’s “utmost economy,” but that’s not the real message of the ad. The Chevrolet symbolizes comfort (the kids asleep in the back seat), glamour, conspicuous consumption and personal mobility. The farm is another affluent place from what we see of it. Grandma and Grandpa sure don’t resemble WPA photographs of dustbowl farmers, although who knows? This family could be “Okies” who migrated to California and made good returning home for a visit. Americans wanted to put the poverty and deprivation of the 30’s behind them and this ad, with its conspicuous display of wealth, reflects that longing.

Officially the Adm. Byrd's mission was a geographical, biological and metereological one.
In facts the U.S. Intelligence was really concerned about the Nazi research of the secret Antarctic Doors, according to the "Hollow Earth" theory. There were also rumours about a Nazi "Secret Disk-Shaped Planes Factory and Military Air Base" in the area.
The possibility of the passage of unknown weapons and Axis' troops through the Earth, able to hit the USA by surprise from the underground, was taken in serious consideration by the American Intelligence at the end of the 1930ies. To control the Germans in their activities in "Neu-Schwabenland" was considered a priority in the early times of WW2, at least before Pearl Harbor's attack and the US involvement in the conflict.
In this recently declassified original silent footage there's much more that meets the eye than the trip to Antarctic and the daily life of the crew. There are really revealing and unexpected shots here and there...

1938. Hitler Leaves Munich on his Personal Train after the Conference with Britain, France and Italy. Amateur Agfacolor 16mm film.
The Führer's Special Train (Führersonderzug in German) was a train which was frequently used by Hitler to travel between various headquarters throughout Europe. It also served as headquarters itself; it was called FHQu Frühlingssturm (Spring Storm) when it was located at Mönichkirchen, Austria during the Balkans Campaign in the spring of 1941. The train was named Führersonderzug "Amerika" in 1940, and later, Führersonderzug "Brandenburg". After the Balkans Campaign the train was never again used as a Führer Headquarters, but Hitler used it throughout the war when he travelled between Berlin, Berchtesgaden, Munich and other headquarters.
The exact components of the Führersonderzug are not known, but some details were revealed by the departure information "Bln 2009", when the train departed Anhalter Bahnhof in Berlin on 23 June 1941, arriving at Wolfsschanze on 24 June 1941;
The individual 17 components (locomotives and cars) in order were: * Two locomotives in tandem, behind them were: * a special Flakwagen (armoured anti-aircraft train), armed with 2 anti-aircraft guns * a baggage car * the Führerwagen, which Hitler personally used * a Befehlswagen (Command car), including a conference room and a communications center * a Begleitkommandowagen, for the accompanying Führer-Begleit-Kommando * a dining car * two cars for guests * a Badewagen (Bathing car) * another dining car * two sleeping cars for personnel * a Pressewagen (car for the press) * another baggage car * and finally, another Flakwagen
There were other special trains (Sonderzug in German) as well, used by prominent German officials: * Ministerzug (Ministers' Train) was used by Joachim von Ribbentrop and Heinrich Himmler * Sonderzug "Afrika" (also called "Braunschweig"), used by the chief of the Armed Forces High Command (Oberkommando der Wehrmacht (OKW)) * Sonderzug "Asien" (also called "Pommern") was used by Hermann Göring * Sonderzug "Atlantik" (also called "Auerhahn"), used by the supreme commander of the Navy (Kriegsmarine) * Sonderzug "Atlas" (also called "Franken"), a command train used by the Armed Forces Operations Staff
(Wehrmachtführungsstabes) * Sonderzug "Enzian", a command train used by the chief of the Intelligence branch of the Luftwaffe (Nachrichtenwesens der Luftwaffe) * Sonderzug "Ostpreußen" (also called "Sonderzug 4"), used by the Army General Staff (Oberkommando des Heeres (OKH)) * Sonderzug "Robinson 1", used by the chief of the Command Staff of the Luftwaffe * Sonderzug "Robinson 2", used by the chief of the General Staff of the Luftwaffe * Sonderzug "Steiermark" (also called "Heinrich" and "Transport 44") was used by Heinrich Himmler * Sonderzug "Westfalen", used by Joachim von Ribbentrop * Sonderzug "Württemberg", used by the Army General Staff (Gen. The Fuhrer partecipates in a "spontaneous way" to what seems to be a funny joke about Goering told by Max Amann, one of Hitler's best friend. Amann says:"Haben sie denn Herr Goring tanzen gesehen, mein Fuhrer?", "Have you seen Herr Goering dancing, my Fuhrer?". Hitler reacts impersonating the way the rather heavy minister Goering danced. (This finally explains what was behind the "Dancing Hitler" or "Hitler Dance" clip, that's on line pratically since the Internet exist!!!). Then he changes uniform, meets his segretaries and friends and gives orders to various SS officers, Surprisingly, (maybe a Galeazzo Ciano's idea...) they listen to radio-news in English from the BBC!

Jewish homes were ransacked, as were shops, towns and villages, as SA stormtroopers and civilians destroyed buildings with sledgehammers. Around 1,668 synagogues were ransacked, and 267 set on fire. In Vienna alone 95 synagogues or houses of prayer were destroyed.
