Since 2007 three of our videos are on permanent exhibit in New York City at The National Sports Museum. In 2009 ROMANO-ARCHIVES has provided a part of the Dada and Futurist films that were screened during the exhibition PRIMA DURANTE DOPO IL CINEMA FUTURISTA (BEFORE DURING AFTER THE FUTURIST CINEMA), performed from 15 to 23 October 2009 at La Galleria L'Agostiniana in Rome, Italy in the event "Risonanze del Festival Internazionale del Film di Roma" ("Resonances of the Rome International Film Festival"). In 2011 ROMANO-ARCHIVES signed the first contracts as footage provider with the Historic Channel of the Italian State Television RAI TV - RAI 3 La Grande Storia and with the German State Television ZDF. Also in 2011 an Austrian documentary on Hanna Reitsch, containing our exclusive material, was distributed worldwide obtaining a great public and critic success! In 2012 we started a new collaboration with the BBC. In January 2013 the BBC aired worldwide, at prime time, a documentary on Malta in WW2 realized with a large contribution of our material. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M30KC-mep7k)

It also gave Wright Field an opportunity to educate the public on its achievements and the revolution in aviation technology that World War II had spawned. Wright Field hosted a two-day Army Air Forces Fair in October 1945 that attracted 500,000 people. The fair was so popular that base officials extended it for a week. More than one million people from 26 foreign countries observed displays of Army Air Forces operational and experimental aircraft. The highlights of the event were exhibits of captured German and Japanese aircraft, rockets, and equipment. Amateur footage of GIs visiting the display of captured Nazi aircrafts at Wright Field, Ohio. A Me-262 looking brand new is shown, later a GI climbs on board of a Yokosuka MXY7 "OHKA" single-seat suicide missile... really rare shots of this almost unknown "secret" weapon. No official records of use of this Japanese weapon by the Germans exist, but this finding adds a new detail about the self-sacrificing squads mounted by Germany's famed Luftwaffe, revealing that not only the Japanese but Germany too was planning to embrace self-sacrifice as a military tactic. Young Japanese officers, emboldened by Samurai legend, forced reluctant superiors to accept kamikaze attacks. Germany's program, on the other hand, was the brainstorm of the Luftwaffe's highest ranking female officer, Hanna Reitsch. We learn how the highly ambitious Reitsch rose through military ranks on her flying skills. After she personally pitched a self-sacrificing aerial squadron to Hitler, Reitsch signed on as its first volunteer. Video 1 of 2.

Germany 28 Months After V-Day (1947)
Four reels 46 minutes movie. Investigation of German industrial production capabilities after the devastation of World War II. With striking images of destroyed German cities and factories. Amateur film made by George T. Fonda, assistant to the president, Weirton Steel Company.
Subject: An un-polished amateur film
Towards the end of part one, and continued in the rest, you see what the aftermath of a real war is. Not some Hollywood movie or some terroristic attack: building after building, street after street, city after city of rubble. People, years after the end of the war, digging in the ruins, and barefoot children in food ration lines.
Eventually we get to some shots of a trip up the Rhine to the ruins of earlier mini-empires (castles) and some factories and the Munich beer gardens, but that is a let down. It is the documentation of the debris, of the utter destruction of cities - of civilian population centers - by US and UK bombing still evident years afterward that make this film highly valuable. It makes me think about how Nazi Germany thought it was an undefeatable superpower with the world's best technology and best military, yet this happened to them...

Incredibile, lungo filmato amatoriale a colori, composto da 4 bobine di pellicola Kodachrome, su un'investigazione svolta nel 1947, 28 mesi dopo la fine della Seconda Guerra Mondiale in Europa, riguardante le possibilità di recupero industriale da parte della Germania.
Il compito da svolgere per la Weirton Steel Company non impedisce alla cinepresa di George T. Fonda di curiosare a fondo su ciò che davvero è rimasto della Germania... Fra le rovine scopriamo che cominciano ad aprire timidamente i primi negozi. Molti bambini vanno ancora in giro scalzi... Le uniche, rarissime auto in circolazione sono quelle degli ufficiali e delle delegazioni... come la "nostra". Molte strade urbane sono ancora impercorribili per via delle macerie.
La Cancelleria e l'ufficio di Hitler, assieme al Fuhrerbunker, sono tappe "turistiche" obbligate per il nostro amico operatore. Sembrano posti dove le ostilità sono appena cessate... sbalorditivo! Le riprese, molto accurate ed inedite in Italia, riguardano anche altri luoghi cult del nazismo, come la stazione radio di Goebbels (con super-antenna, intatta, annessa) e la sua villa di Berlino, lo Stadio Olimpico, la famosa birreria di Monaco ed altri.
Questa trasferta oltreoceano dei managers della Weirton Steel Company si svolge fra gli agi di ville e castelli espropriati ad industriali compromessi col regime, avvenenti "segretarie" tedesche, macchinoni americani con autista messi a disposizione dall'US Army, gite fluviali in comode barche a motore... tutti i privilegi dei vincitori, insomma!

1946. Captured I-400 Class Submarines destroyed. Recently declassified US 16mm Kodachrome color film.
The I-400 Class submarine was a Japanese "secret" weapon. An aircraft carrier submarine! And it was also the fastest submarine of its times. Some of them were captured at the end of the war by the US Navy.
They were originally intended for an attack on the U.S. mainland including New York City and Washington D.C. and had capabilities unmatched until the arrival of nuclear submarines.
They were deliberately sunk by the U.S. Navy in 1946 to prevent their technology falling into Soviet hands.
