Partial Solar Eclipse 2005 October 3
First Light MPC Code A24 Partial Solar Eclipse 2005 October 3

During the solar eclipse of October 3 the Observatory was under a very heavy rain and the sky was completely cloudy. We report here a web page published before this event.

Warning!!! Never look at the sun without eye protection!!!

On Monday, 3rd October 2005, a partial solar eclipse will be visible from the New Millennium Observatory.

The eclipse begins at 9:51:36 CEST

During the maximum, at 11:09:41 CEST, the Sun is covered by 69.6%.

The eclipse ends at 12:32:20 CEST.

All the times are given in CEST (Central European Summer Time), i.e.: the time of a common European watch.

In the pictures above the zenith is up.

The partial eclipse is clearly visible also without astronomical instruments. Cover your eyes with adequate protection: the cheapest solution is a welding glass n. 14, otherwise you can use Mylar or AstroSolar eyeglasses . Common sunglasses are not enough for a safe protection! The old-fashion glass smoked with a candle is absolutely unsafe!

Warning!!! Never look at the sun without eye protection!!!
