RESUME
Since 2002 Laura Bardier collaborates with the Cultural Department of
the Municipality of Napoli to develop the idea and the project of the
first civic center for contemporary art.. Her work is related to the recommended
approaches and strategies for preserving contemporary artworks or parts
of artworks, that should be a public shared resource collectively and
continuously updated. On March 2004 the PAN | Palazzo delle Arti Napoli
was inaugurated. From the 2004 to the 2006 Laura Bardier worked as Production
Coordinator, at PAN | Palazzo delle Arti Napoli, to create a model for
a distributed network of artists, critics and theorists, integrating media
production with training in theory and research. She aims to develop a
container for documenting the history of contemporary languages, where
to produce an ongoing construction of archives, services, tools and products
of information and communication for the public access. Specifically,
her work focuses on designing, developing and coordinating the entire
process of digitalization, cataloguing and indexing of the archive of
the PAN | Palazzo delle Arti Napoli. From the 2006, her currently position
is Junior Curator.
Born in 1976, Montevideo, Uruguay, after high school studies at a French
school, Laura Bardier moved to Firenze, Italia, where she graduated in
Communication Design. Her main interests are in history, theory, and criticism
of contemporary art, architecture and design; innovative museum practice;
creation and maintenance of exhibitions; strategic museum management covering
the full range of activities of contemporary art centers. Since the beginning
of College studies, she has been also interested in the problems of the
documentation of contemporary art: methodology, terminology, conservation
and the possible strategies and perspectives for the future by using digital
technologies in contemporary museums. In particular her personal research
is directed towards the possibilities of audiovisual media as a vehicle
for exhibition, promotion and communication, and as an interpretative
tool in contemporary art museums.
She is also completing a low frequency MFA in New Media Curating at the
Transart Institute (New York, U.S.A.) in collaboration with Donau Universitat
(Krems, Austria).
