IT HAS ITS BATH , A KITCHNETTE AND A GARDEN WITH A MAGNIFICENT VIEW.
IN THE AREA THERE MANY FOOT PATHS FOR PLEASANT WALKS.
AT WALKING DISTANCE THERE IS “VILLA AMBASSADOR GUARIGLIA” WHERE IN SUMMERTIME MANY CONCERTS TAKE PLACE AND WHERE THERE IS AN INTERESTIN CERAMIC MUSEUM.
AT ONE KM. IS ALBORI, A TYPICAL AND UNSPOILT VILLAGE .

| the first town that we meet, coming from Salerno, is Vietri sul Mare.
The town is built on a little promonty and on the seaside where we find an impressive saracin tower.
Historicaly, Vietri was the old town of "Marcina", built by the Etrurian. Later the Roman conquered it. In fact, recently, they discovered, on the seaside, a Roman thermae and a"murus reticalatum".
In the middle age was under the Dukedom of Salerno and later under the Cava Abbey. Only in the XVIII century was free, began an indipendent municipality.
To visit….
The church of S.Giovanni Battista, which dome was covered with maiolic. It built in the X century, with a wide aisle, it has latin Cross shape.
In the church,wecan see an old greek Cross, from the XV century.
Other place of Vietri are: Molina, rich of water mill and Raito, where we find the church of S. Maria delle Grazie, built in the XVI century, with its frescoes painted by the school of Solimena.
About ceramic...
Vietri Sul Mare since XV century produced ceramics; its trade was especially with Sicily and Calabria. The decoration of Vietri ceramic, has the typical colour of the coast. |
