| One day St.
Cornely arrived in Carnac accompaigned by his two oxen. He was escaping from the Roman
soldiers that wanted to kill him. He arrived just near the ocean and saw some farmers
sowing on their fields. He turned to them and said: "What are you sowing?" The farmers answered: - " Oats..."- - " Tomorrow you can reap it " - said St. Cornely. The day after the farmers were astonished to see that on the just sowed fields, during the night, the oats were grown, matured and ready to be reaped. Immediately arrived the Roman soldiers that asked to the farmers: - "Did you see a man passing here with two oxen? - "Yes, he was here while we were sowing oats on our fields."- the farmers said. This answer turned the soldiers into standing stones that became the Carnac's alignements. In the Celtic tradition they are also called "Saudarded sant Korneli", i.e. St. Cornely's soldiers.
