LAURETTA

Un pò bambina, un pò fata: questa è Lauretta, milanese d'origine,
romana d'adozione, città che ama molto per la sua calda luce che avvolge
ogni cosa e dove svolge servizio di volontariato con bambini malati di
tumore. Tra i suoi libri, pubblicati da Gribaudi e Ancora, conosciuti ed

Lauretta svolge un servizio di volontariato presso il reparto di oncologia
pediatrica del Policlinico Umberto I° di Roma. Il suo compito è intrattenere i
bambini facendoli giocare e raccontando loro delle storie. Essi sono
convintissimi che Lauretta sia una fata, o al massimo una bambina come loro, ma
non di certo una persona "grande". Dopo aver tenuto in braccio per un pomeriggio
un bimbo di sette anni molto malato (ora volato in cielo), cercando di
interessarlo alla vita e strappargli un sorriso, alla fine scopre che il bimbo
ama i leopardi. Allora corre a ritagliare immagini di questo animale e gliene fa
un poster.
Ma nella sua mente risuona l'interrogativo di tutti davanti all'innocente che
soffre: Perché, Signore, perché?. In un attimo - come il lenzuolo che Pietro
vide calarsi davanti, apparecchiato con ogni ben di Dio, prima di recarsi in
casa del centurione Cornelio - si ritrova nella mente una favola già tutta
"scritta".
Non tutte le fiabe però sono a sfondo così "grave". La maggioranza sono
"leggere" come petali di rose. Vogliono comunicare "una briciola di felicità". E
ci riescono.
Con la felicità comunicano però, anche qualcos'altro, ugualmente prezioso per
grandi e piccini: la sapienza del Vangelo. Lauretta ha grande familiarità con la
parola di Dio, spesso riecheggiata nella "morale" della favola.
Una nota che si coglie in quasi tutte le favole è l'anelito al cielo,
all'aldilà, a quel "mondo pieno di sole", dove ogni lacrima sarà asciugata, ogni
desiderio di felicità colmato e ogni ingiustizia riparata. Sono favole, non si
tarda a rendersene conto, scritte si a tavolino, ma nate dall'esperienza vissuta
prima che scritte. Possono essere lette a due livelli. I piccoli apprezzeranno
soprattutto "la storia" presente in ognuna, sempre nuova e piena di fantasia, i
grandi vi leggeranno anche dell'altro......

A bit child, a bit fairy:
this is Lauretta, born in Milan, adopted by Rome, a town than she loves
very much because of its warm light that wraps everything, where she
carries out voluntary service taking care of children ill with tumour.

Lauretta
carries out voluntary service in the oncologic ward of the Ployclinic
Umberto I in Rome. Her task is to entertain children, making them play and
telling them stories. They are absolutely sure that Lauretta is a fairy
or, at most, a child like them, but not an “adult” person at all.
After having held a seriously ill seven year-old child (now flown to
Heaven) in her arms for the whole afternoon, trying to make him interested
in life and wrest him a smile, she eventually finds out that the child
loves leopards. So, she immediately goes and cuts out some leopards images
and creates a poster for him.
But
in her mind the question that everyone asks himself when facing the story
of an innocent that suffers: “Why Lord, why?”. In just one second,
like the sheet with God’s plenty that Peter saw coming down in front of
him, before going to the centurion Cornelius’s house, she discovers in
her mind a fable which is already written.
Not
all the fables, however, have such a severe background. Most of them are
“light” like rose petals. They want to pass on “a crumb of happiness”.
And they manage to do that.
Together
with happiness, they also pass on something else, equally precious for
everyone: the wisdom of the Gospel. Lauretta is deeply familiar with the
Word of the Lord, often echoed at in her fables moral.
One
hint that can be caught in almost all her fables is the desire of Heaven,
of afterlife, of that “world full of sun” where every tear will be
dried, every wish of happiness will be filled up and every wrong will be
redressed. They are desk-written fables, it is easy to realise that, but
they are all directly experienced. They can be read at two different
levels. Children will appreciate “the story” above all, always new and
full of fantasy, adults will be able to read beyond that as well…
