It is an academic subject concerned with the study of ancient and medieval Germanic languages of Europe and the texts written in them. It inherits most methodology from Classical philology and it can be viewed as a branch of 19th century historical linguistics. I think it's fun because so many interesting epic and mythological poems were composed and written down in a Germanic language, such as Old Norse and Old English. I go at length to explain what it is, since it is not so well known in my home country.
It's probably hard to explain. Prosody is all that has to do with accent and intonation in a language. Other features included in and dealt with by prosody are vowel length and syllable structure. In all these cases we do not have the clean-cut notions that we have in phonology. We still have distintictive features, but we need to speak of supra-segmental ones. The syllable can be regarded as an intermediate unite between phonemes and words. It can be thought of as the minimal cluster of phonemes with a phonological consistency. As opposed to phonemes we inherit the concept of syllable from antiquity. The same is true of prosody and accent.
In the age of computer and communication I could not ignore the importance of computer graphics and its many applications. I am an Adobe Certified Associate in Visual Communication and this website should be binding evidence of my skills. ACA is actually just the first level of expertise in graphics, but it's a start. I only used to like (making) simple websites with focus on content. Now I see the light. Communication is all about blowing your viewers' minds with special effects covering up your inacceptable contents.
What I can do now is use transparancy in order to make an image more interesting. Transparency never fails. I have created a couple of logos that I sent to competitions. No big victories so far.
When creating logos you can always start from fonts and turn them into shapes or paths, so that you can edit them.
Visual communication is related to the study of art.
The English language distinguishes between editing and publishing. These are as a matter of fact two rather different operations. Editing is preparing the text by looking at its content and correcting it, purging it of errors or making it more intelligble, precise or agreeable. Editing can overlap with composing the text. Publishing is a less invasive and even more complex operation. It seems to me to be about placing a finished text or any other piece of content in relation to all other existing pieces of content inside a specific context. Publishing includes the choice of a specific context within the inventory of all possible contexts. Contexts are defined by their accessibility and by their audience: who is most likely to access what.
One may argue that digital publishing is generically what you do on the worldwide web. Such has been the case for about a decade now. Rumors of semantically organized web have circulated almost since the beginning of the web itself. Now the web 2.0 has come of age and digital publishing has acquired a new meaning.
