Welcome to my web site!

My name is Guido Allieri and I am a 43 year old guy.
I am interested in aviation since I was a child. Even my whole life is changed so much in the last 30 years, aviation and aeroplanes still remain as milestone in my mind. I’m a chemist and I work for an Italian Chemical Company. My job is dedicated to additives for plastic industry.

Summer 2005

I’m married and we have two children: the son is named Giovanni and he is now 13 years old, the daughter is named Chiara and she is 12 years old. You can see 3 couple of pictures of them, 2 was taken some years ago.
The first was taken on July 4th 1999 on Milano Malpensa ramp in front of Lauda Italy B.767.
The second picture was taken on October 11th 1999 just before boarding on their first flight experience on an EUREKA Fokker 27 from Milano Linate.
The last is just outside home last summer 2005!

We live in northern Italy, in a little village just between Milan and the Swiss Border. My "home" airport is Milan Malpensa (MXP) that is about 20 Km (15 minutes driving) from my house.

I take photo of aeroplanes from more than 25 years but I'm using Kodachrome k64/k25 slide film on regular base from around 1984. My Equipment is based on Canon cameras: I got two EOS body and a couple of old AE-1 together with a big collection of original lenses. I've always used Canon cameras and lenses.

Because I’m not working in Aviation Transport, I have only very limited ramp access. Usually, I take my shots from the fence while the planes are taxing or, where is possible, from visitor terrace.

I collect slides of commercial planes only, from the DHC6/Metros to the Antonov 124. I expecially like wide bodies airliners and all Airbus family models. I do not collect biz-jets, helicopters, military planes, general aviation planes.

A relevant point for me on the slides is the way they are taken. They need to be sunny, focused and full frame, taken from the side (or slightly from the front), with doors closed and no clutter. I prefer aircraft with all the wheels on the ground, but I like also action shots. Terrace and taxiway pictures are always welcome.

In the last years family and job took almost all of my time. So my time for visiting airports is reduced. Now I just spend few hours sometimes taking pictures in the nearest airports. Anyway I always have my cameras with me and I try to take pictures every time I travel by aeroplanes for my job.

I am always looking for slide partners worldwide. I expecially look for outside Europe friends. This because now I mainly take shoots of "normal" planes: but what is normal in Europe is not so common outside Europe (and vice-versa…). Anyway if you like to swap slides with me, just let me know by sending an E-Mail at guido@allieri.com.
