1978-1987 Alessandro Fantini was born in Atessa ( Italy ) on november 8th, the last of three brothers. He began his artistic activities in the first six years of his life drawing under the influence of Disney comics. In july 1986 he sold his first artwork made in alcool colors for a local auction at his town. 1988-92 Alessandro created his own comic world inspired to Donald Duck's characters and some of his comic tales reached TOPOLINO, the main italian disney magazine obtaining an alluring review on its pages. He learned the rudiments of watercolour painting without great success and due to this apparent lack of talent his art teacher tried to discourage him to keep painting. The art teacher also menaced to expulse the young Alessandro from school after seeing a satirical portrait of him he had drawn during the lesson. The first oozy period of his adolescence was underlined by the discovering of horror writers like Poe, Le Fanu, Maupassant, Barker, Lovecraft, King and the deep study of painters like Bosch, Leonardo, De Chirico, Ernst, Magritte, Huygens and Dalì. In 1992 he started painting experimental compositions based on mixed technique of watercolour and alcool on paper. Also he wrote poems and novels developing a particular view of neogotic taste. 1993-1996 His tastes were more and more closer to those of surrealist movement (particularly Dalì, Delvaux, Tanguy and Ernst) and his graphic production absorbed the visual moods of his childish obsessions about lizards, bells, cats and countryside puzzling fascinations. In 1994 Alessandro improved his capabilities by himself by the adoption of oil on canvas method beginning the first saga of pictures inspired by dreamscapes of Dalì and De Chirico. In 1995 he exhibited six paintings for the first time at a local show-room of his town. In the same year he completed his secondary education with full marks and spent two weeks in Britain taking new iconographic elements from his walkings around Lancing chapel near Brighton. During the summer the mayor of Atessa invited him to exhibit in the town for a third solo show. He becomes university student of modern literature at Chieti attending the history of art course. In 1998 he created a great triptic he showed in the fourth solo exhibition called "Neo-Hypnerotomachia Pingendi" inside Crecchio city Yellow Palace. In the same year he exhibited his artworks inspired to the italian poet Gabriele d'Annunzio during a celebration prepared in his famous summer hermitage by the Adriatic sea "L'eremo di S.Vito". His style developed over the surrealism boundary acquainting himself with flemish atmospheres and H.R.Giger biomechanical hyperrealism. He directed some short movies in vhs concerning his paintings, several fiction projects and a long movie shooted using his friends like actors entitled "EGERIA", whose original plot and screenplay were written by himself. 1999-2001 In 1999 he collected an art-rock band in order to held up his poems and songs into musical format.
